ABOUT 100 angry protesters have marched on a Logan police station to demand justice for a woman who was shot in the by an officer with a taser.

The demonstration got off to a tense start when one of the officers sent to escort the march was spotted wearing a taser.

“That’s totally unnecessary and provocative,” said aboriginal elder Sam Watson. “There’s no-one here conducting any illegal activity, no-one here is a threat.”

Sheila Oakley, 36, lost the sight in her left eye when she was shot with a taser after officers were called to her Woodbridge home on February 6.

Police say the officer acted when she raised a chair leg with nails protruding from it.

An investigation into the incident is being out by Police Standards Command.
