Inspector’s scathing report on the “State of Imprisonment”by Gerry GeorgatosOctober 18th, 2014Nearly half of Western Australia’s record-high prison population are on their second or third or fourth term. For First People aged 19 to 20 years who have been to prison, more than 60 per cent reoffend. Western Australia has the highest jailing rate in the nation of First People adult males. In a report submitted to parliament by the Inspector of Custodial Services, Professor Neil Morgan said that there needs to be a focus on reducing reoffending.
